Photograph confusion

Can anyone explain how I can attach a photograph to a message. I found the insert image icon (mountain with yellow background) but it directs me to a URL.

Can I upload images direct from my hard drive if not please could you tell me what I need to do?

Most people will upload their images to Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) or Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/). Once your image is uploaded there will be a way of getting the URL of the image file so you can post it.
