View Full Version : A little fun with the nifty 50 and CS2
Having a play with the nifty fifty today and came up with this.
I need to break the temptation of opening up to f1.8 as the DOF is too shallow :icon_eek:
I created the backlight artificially in Photochop using the spotlight in render>lighting effects on a duplicated layer with a layer mask and painted through around the subject to the original to create a backlighting effect.

Good idea & works OK in this scenario. How do you reckon you could create the effect of backlight though hair though.....now that would be a challenge :D

There is a video tutorial on the DVD that comes with Martin Evenings' Adobe Photoshop For Photographers that shows you how to do just that!
Is that a good book Bachs?
I noticed in a flyer I got with PM from the 'Britannia type' club (buy 4 books for peanuts and get 3 million free gifts etc).
They have Martin Evenings - "Adobe Photoshop CS2 for Photographers" for 6.99. I notice amazon it's 20 odd quid.
I'm sure with making up the order with 3 99p cheapies, I could easily make a nice saving.

It's superb mate.
I'm currently reading it cover to cover (no mean feat) and realised I've forgot more than I've learned.
Can't recommend it highly enough...especially if you are somewhere between novice and intermediate.
I'm somewhere between "The dawn of evolution" and "Seasoned professional"
Not sure where though (and I highly suspect I'm so close to the former, it's scary :D)
I may just buy it at this price then.
