My first time proper using my camera on manual - don't be too harsh on me! :) Taken with a canon 400D w/ 18-55mm kit lens. I found focusing a problem sometimes due to everyone moving about etc. Also, due to the smoke on stage I found it very hard to get a decent picture of the drummers at the back, any tips?

Here's a selection of some of my favourite pictures -

Good work Matt, obviously a few focus issues, but generally very nice. Some well timed shots too. B&W ones really nice.

If you haven't got one, get a 50mm f1.8. They are the best thing since sliced bread and for around £50, it will be the best £50 you ever spent.

You would see a great improvement (hopefully) in your focusing etc with going to as low as f1.8 it will let in loads more light, and should focus quicker too.

I don't do gigs, but the only one I've shot, I did it with my nifty fifty here you go.....
