At last... a musicians post :)
I play any brass instrument, have 3 synths but don't play them well, and can play a little guitar.
It's a long time since I've played anything but:
1. Various bits of percussion throught my school days, special tuition in the drum kit.
2. Piano
3. Piano accordion - wish I'd never sold it.

Used to play euphonium in a brass band when I was at school, gave it up when I was about 15 as I decided it was uncool at the time :bang:The joys of youth
I play bass guitar, have done west end shows. Also play the classical organ, played for linda lusardi's wedding!
I'm surprised at the musicman, I thought you were a keys player from your avtar.
I've always been good on the fiddle.............. :D
But musical intruments........ I have played a wide range but never gotta tune outta a single one,
why do you think I took up photography in the first place ? :D
Bass is my bag. Been playing since I was 15, thats about 6 years now:lol::lol::lol::lol:. Aye right. I also play 6 string guitar but as I have Cumberlands finest for fingers, I'm s**te. Bought an Alto Sax a couple of months ago and teaching myself to read musuc while learning this. It's cool fun.

I've been playing guitar for around 9 years now, completely self taught.

been thinking about getting myself a bass recently. Like someone else said, bit too much Edward Sausagefingers for a 6 string.
Bass and guitar rather badly. Keys, but only for the purposes of programming. Turntables (scratching and beat juggling), and various electronic nonsense.
I use to play the sax but stopped because of other comitments but will probably buy another one soon as I do miss playing.

Too bad all you bass players don't live in Denver. There's a huge shortage of them here and it seems every band is desperately looking for one.
When i was young i used to play on the linoleum.:D

I play the fool quite often
I play Guitar (Electric and Acoustic) and Bass. Can hit a few chords on keyboard but wouldn't claim to be able to play.
I play piano and drums, I've been playing both for about 7 years or so!
I played clarinet for a while back in the day. I heard 'Petite Fleur' on a juke box and couldn't get enough of it, I must have played it a dozen times on the trot. I bought the record the next day and a clarinet not long afterwards.
I always wanted to play piano/keyboard and finally got down to it about 20 years ago, and learning to read music. I've ended up with a very competent right hand, less so with my left - I play a lot of left hand chords and arpeggio the chords and improvise.
I've got a couple of nice guitars which are looking good on the wall but not getting much use.

id dearly love to play the piano, but ive tried repeatedly but i dont seem to be able to master playing with 2 hands. my parents own a grand piano and id love to be able to play it as no body else has played it properly for a while, apart from suzie

That grand piano alone is a good enough reason to just do it. Nobody can play with two hands to begin with, you need to learn in a proper structured way and it takes lots of practice.
Any teacher will tell you they'd rather have someone in their 60s who really wants to do it, rather than some kid who is doing it because mom and dad are pushing them. There's nothing stopping you except you. It doesn't matter what standard you reach as long as you get satisfaction from it, and you will. ;)
i'm a classically trained cellist - right up to Grade 8

Anyone have any recordings of their playing...?

Now that impresses me. I've developed a real desire to learn the cello over the last couple of years.

i used to have a video of my old flatmate (and guitar teacher) whilst absolutely slaughtered, absolutely hilarous to hear someone ramble absolutely incoherantly ala "i was very very drunk" off of the fast show, and then going through some seriously complex guitar excercises followed by hendrix and various other seriously complex guitar parts before falling over blind drunk, unfortunately i cant find it!
i have just bought an electric guitar to see if i like it or not, my fingers are killing and ive never read music before so my head is hurting.

your fingers will hurt for a while, keep playing till you build up some calus's and then it'll be fine
:)
as for learning. read tab, its alot more straight forwards for guitarists!

There was a recent guitar-related thread (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34825) like this, with pics too :)
Played guitar for 27 years now. Some recent live stuff here (http://www.myspace.com/cafe80sband).
