Am I supposed to contain my excitement at the impending delivery of my new 40D body tomorrow morning?
:help:
But on a serious note, I've read many things that discuss the "improved weather sealing" on the 40D and associated grip. But just HOW weather sealed are these things?
For example with my 350D I've been on many trecks up in the Derby Dales and I've always had to cover it up if there has been any light rain etc. Would a 40D (and my L lenses) cope with such conditions?

You don't.
You have my permission, to whoop, holler, whinge and whine until it arrives!
You're even allowed to dance a merry jig....Fidget while watching telly, like you have ants in your pants, and have a sleepless night with excitement :D

Cover up your 40D the same as you do the 350D in bad weather. The doors to the battery compartment and the CF card compartment are weather-sealed, but other areas such as buttons and dials aren't.
Or, alternatively, assuming that we're talking a drizzly sort of rain, rather than a hammering downpour, don't fret about it overmuch and just give it a wipe occasionally. I've got my 30D drenched many a time and I must admit it's not showing any harm from it yet. Yet, please note! Seriously - although not technically weather sealed, these things can take more punishment than you think. In all honesty I'd be more concerned about dust than rain!
Enjoy your new toy! :D
Hopefully's Nathan's non-appearance in this thread today shows that it arrived ok, and that he's busy filling memory cards :)

Unfortunately Marky It hasn't been despatched yet so I won't receive it until Tuesday :(
if you are shooting in rain and dont have any covers get your self a shammy leather and lay it over the camera and lens keeps it nice and dry when the shammy get soaked just wring it out and wipe the camera. Works a treat.

Well so far it looks like my 40D has gone AWOL.
Not a happy bunny.
