Hi all,

I have been lurking for a couple of days and enjoy the forum and have learnt a fair bit already.

I am a complete novice and just learning about some very basic stuff by tinkering with the settings on my little Coolpix. As this has brought some interesting results already I have decided to get into the hobby a bit more.

The next step for me is to learn a bit more about photography in general from a technial point of view and then invest in an entry level Digital SLR.. not decided on the Nikon/Cannon debate yet although I am sure you will all be keen to give me your perspective on that one ;) . I have always had Nikon compacts so far so you can see which way I lean already. :whistling

Any way, I hope you can put up with the occasional dumb question when I can't google a clear answers for myself.

Will stick up some of my photo's for you to have a look at. And laugh at.

Cheers,
James.

Hello James, glad you stepped out of the shadows and chose to register.

If you would like one of our free galleries then just drop EosD a private message and he will sort it for you as soon as he gets a minute.

In the mean time, welcome aboard, pull up a chair and enjoy the friendly banter. Oh and those questions...we can help there as well ;)

Yeah, I'm here too. Mainly been lurking though.....

I heartily recommend Nikon btw, though the Canon E350D and E20D are supposed to be very very good. Got a D70 myself and love it. New Konica Minolta looks interesting too with Antishake built into the Camera body.....

Nice site BTW :thumb:

Hi, another invader from Wigwam here :icon_cool

TBH i fall into the novice category and generally at best i mess around with an EOS10D. I quite like trying to take astro shots, the moon, saturn etc using a telescope but they are fairly modest.

Just a word of warning though, look after your smilies, Jampal has been know to aquire them :whistling and i see you may have some that may attract his attention :naughty:

This is the thread thats running on wigwam that contains some of our efforts
