View Full Version : Too lazy to focus when taking the shot? Interesting stuff within...

Well, I thought about this a couple of years ago, and it looks like its now possible. Focusing the image (and moving the viewpoint to some extent) can now be done *after* the image has been captured.

Perhaps. But its not that much of an art now is it? I mean, I only manual focus a handful of times. Autofocus/AI focus takes care of much of the focusing issues. This is just another step on top of the whole image taking process. Take picture, develop RAW file including exposure and focus.

And it's all so simple (not) . I downloaded the pdf of the research paper. It was in English but it was greek to me.

Seems to come down to something like a flys compound eye?

That's amazing stuff. I also had a look at the research paper. Didn't make any sense to me but he pays tribute to a lot of similar technology from the nineties and early noughties. You'd think, if it had been cheap and viable back then that we'd be seeing some consumer results about now. Hope it does happen. Would be a new creative freedom IMO.
