View Full Version : Buying Ilford film - is 120 roll same as 125 35mm
Im a bit new to this and was trying to buy some Ilford film on line for a Pentax K1000 SLR. I use FP4 Plus at college and wanted to buy the same but am getting confused by 120 roll film and cassette. Whats the difference?

120 film is for medium format (bigger than yours) cameras
You need 135 or 35mm film which normally comes in a cassette
No, it's different, 120 roll film does not fit into 35mm cameras. You need to get the 125-35mm for your K1000.
Cheers Dave thanks for that mate.
Well, you could trim it and use a hole punch, might be a bit tricky in the dark though :D

The K1000 uses 35mm.
120 gives a 6cm x 6.45/6/7/8/912/17/24cm neg/tranny depending on outfit and 35mm gives 3.5cm x 2.4cm.
35mm uses a "pop in" cassette and relatively light tight whereas 120 is a bit like a small loo roll and not light tight.
