Hello there and how do?,

This is for anyone and everyone who is into figure skating,

The past few weeks I have been covering a few companies during the rehearsals for the first competition of the season here in Finland and also contributing images to a calendar for Helsingin Luistelijat.

There is quite a few, I have been really busy, so I won't clog up the forum tryin to post them!
Have a look at:
www.primedirectivephotography.com
The images displayed in the Figure Skating gallery are taken at Helsinki Ice Hall (Great lighting!) and the Muodostelmaluistelun I Valinnat images were taken at the LänsiAuto Areena in Espoo (Not so great lighting due to half of the lights being broken, which was nice!)

Any comments are more than welcome, positive or negative.

All the Best

Tomas

I really wish i had read the test before clicking that link.

If you can't be bothered to 'Fish them out' then why should anyone else.

The worse thing is that non of the images on your site open up...got a bit of a problem there.

I have a problem viewing photos on your site as well, it loads really slow in every browser I've tried except for Opera, probably thanks to its caching mechanism.
It's a nice set of shots, though.

The main thing I like about The Talk Photography forum is that (apart from it being about Photography) the responses and comments are usually friendly. Your response is quite the opposite even with the smiley. If this is the attitude of Figure Skating buffs i think they would be best to show them on a Figure skating forum rather than a Talk Photgraphy forum if that is who the pics are aimed at. Posting just a couple of your pics with a link to the rest should not be too much of a trial. I'm sure that there are many resident TP members willing to :help: :)

Thanks Slapo,

I had an feeling that something is up with my website, I don't have a clue what's wrong! According to the stat counters there are thousands of folk who have had the same problem, I've checked on four different systems here in Finland (English I am but live in Helsinki I do) and everything seems exactly as it should. Fast to load and no problems at all but I can't ignore that so many are having the same problem. I am totally boggled. Any thoughts? I use an apple imac and use iweb to create and update the site, I am slightly worried. :(

In all honesty, I am quite baffled and confused at the following comments:

Firstly I am not a figure skating buff as you quite favourably put it. I agree with you entirely on the fact that this forum contains many friendly people with very helpful and friendly comments. I am very grateful to a fair few who have taken the time to advise and help me but at the time I felt that the following comment was not amongst them or friendly for that matter.

I actually found this quite condescending and a bit rude really. I have posted photo's within threads before but this time it wasn't appropriate to my clients.

I really wish i had read the test before clicking that link.

I don't think the above is a friendly comment either
I am really sorry, when I said "I'm not fishing for them", I was referring to compliments and not photo's, I can't see how this is mistaken for me being lazy.

I am very confused here but I sincerely apologise if I had offended anyone, it is not my intention or my nature.

Hey Dal,

I had a brief look at your site too, very good stuff I think, there was a small prob with loading the pages though.

Couldn't get the pages to load properly. I'm no expert when it comes to web sites, I damned if I know what is happening with mine!

We are having some small issue's with the site as the guy thats building it for me has never used this type of system so its a big learning curve. I've posted up on here before asking for feedback and we havent had the chance to action those points yet.

What pages wouldnt load properly as i uploaded some images at the wrong size and they dont show, need to reload them.

Dal, your comment didn't offend me, very little does in fact.
I thought it un-friendly and confusing as I wasn't referring to fishing out pics for the thread but fishing for compliments. But hey, no bad feelings?

The main problems where with the pages that I posted pics of, it was like the photo's were broken and over lapped. There was a few other minor load up issues but the above was the main trouble. Still I got to see some photo's and I really liked them.
Any idea what the prob could be with my web pages?
All the best.

Ah, can't see the pics at work which is a pain. if its the ones under the folder 'Dark' then its because they have been loaded at the wrong size.

What Dpi are your pics at?? what file size are the pictures your loading?

Hi Dal,
Yeah, it was under the 'dark' and 'people' galleries. Everything else pretty much came up roses.

The d.p.i on my photies is 72 and the res is normally around 700 x 500px, I changed a few things yesterday which may have made a difference for the better, I noticed some link boxes and text boxes overlapping, I read on the mac support that this can cause broken links and erratic page load behaviour.
Hopefully that's sorted it but to to be honest I really won't know unless some kind peeps inform me :)
Well, at least the recent visitor paths listing seems a lot more healthy after the shift about.
All the best.

They are loading up fine for me now, although your site is painfully slow, its like being on 56k waiting for the page to load.

The link to the skating pics doesn’t work though.

I really should re-upload the photo's on my site, just havent ahd any spare time with uni and work grrrrr.

Working fine for me mate (Safari) & some really nice pics. I was very impressed with the digger in the snow image in your HDR section, very nicely captured

Thanks muchly for taking the time to check it out there Steep! Iäm finding that there are many different behaviours on different systems: on my imac it loads in a flash and the same with my girlfriends folks system too.
I think at some point I'll have a mess about with a flash player for the galleries maybe.
Cheers again.

I am more of a Ice Hockey snapper, but Tomas got me interested giving this one a try as well.
Personally I am quite pleased with the second image. The first ain't half bad, but I can see room for improvements in that more than the second.
But, just thought to add few pictures in to the thread.

Looked at the website, a bit slow but not bad and I am on snail speed broadband. I aint no skating fan but those pics are really nice, must of been difficult to get groups of skaters into shot. loved #22 and #23.
