Hi all,

I have a Nikon SB-600 flash which had been broken just above the hotshoe, the plastic had snapped, i have glued it back together and all seems fine.

When I have the flash on i get the high pitched whine as it charges and the flash will fire and work on the camera etc but it never stops whining.

The ready light comes on but I thought the charge noise was meant to stop at this point?

The flash is only 3 months old, do you think Nikon would fix under warranty even though it has the damage near hotshoe?

Thanks as always

Where'd you get it from? With something that old I would be expecting the dealer to replace it, but like you say, it's near the hotshoe they could argue misuse. You could counter with not fit for purpose though ;)

My Dad bought it online, think from someone like AJ Purdy's will have to check.

It got damaged so he bought new one and I got the old one off him to see if i could fix the hotshoe bit.

Then noticed the constant noise which i assumed was incorrect. Not worried about them fixing the hotshoe just the whine.
