First of all, a quick thanks to forum member Atasuke who happens to be a good friend of mine - real name Adnan. Allow me to explain. I was booked to cover this game late in the week but my Mark III is away with Canon, due to have the sub mirror replaced this week. As such, I was stuck as I am running with one body at the moment. After a quick call, Ads lent me his 5D so I was able to commit to the game and get some good stuff, when considering I was back to 3 frames per sec and full frame at that.

Anyway, truly awful conditions. Final score 13-13. Not bad work. Certainly interesting shooting at 3 frames. The only thing I noted was the slow buffer. Other than that, evidence that maybe 10 fps is sometimes not needed though I did miss the speed at which a Mark II or III was attain three or four frames. So, 300mm F2.8 all the way, ISO 1600 ~ 3200. As an aside, looking at these I realise how far the Canon DIGIC 3 processor has come. Cheers.

DG I presume you're intimating that Canon's DIGIC 3 processor is much better that the 5D's DIGIC 2?

Excellent shots by the way.

Brilliant shots all of them, if I could be half as good I would be happy!!

The game I was supposed to cover yesterday was called off due to a waterlogged pitch

DG, as I'm in the market to upgrade, I'm keen to know what the DIGIC 3 offers in terms of improvement over the DIGIC 2. Do you think the shots would have been better had you used a DIGIC 3 processor? It may sway me to wait for a DIGIC 3 5DII as opposed to s/h 1D MKIIN. I shoot mainly sports and am waiting patiently to see what the new 5DII frame rate will be.

Yes, I do. Have a look for my Bristol City vs Charlton stuff as that was at high ISO with a Mark III - certainly cleaner ISO, faster to process too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks DG, yes it helps! The DIGIC 3 shots just look a notch up dont they, the colours are brighter and there is also much less grain.

Both sets of shots are excellent.

I think it will be patience for me and wait for the DIGIC 3 5D or wait even longer and get the 1DMKIII :)

Being an ex-rugger I love all of these.

Especially the hand off in the 3rd shot.
