Well it finally came, & was it good.

I took my nine year old son & a few friends to the Wales rally, we ended up going to Crychan and it was fantastic!

A big thumbs up to everyone who answered my post, especially whitewash.

So I know these are not technically great, but I only took my 24-70 for a few momento shots.

My lad Matthew, hunkered down waiting for the cars.

Any C&C greatfully received.

I must say again, what a great day it was, I still have the grit embedded in my face to prove it!

Not bad for a first go at rallying in tough conditions, well better than my first go.

The one of Mikko Hirvonen in the BP Ford Focus WRC is the best for me but I think the shutter speed for these is a nit slow, what setting was you using?

To be honest the light was quite bad, so I pumped up the iso a bit.
I tried to get a low speed, so that the wheels were blurred!

I will get the shutter speeds ect when I get home later.

But they dont seem quite so sharp do they?:'(

Thanks

I guess you were probably using a wide aperture as the focus points seem to be towards the front end of the cars and the depth isn't there to keep the whole car in focus.

Not easy, as you need the shutter speeds to get the action shot. So under the circumstances not too bad :)

If you have a flashgun, try experimenting with that. It can have quite an impact.

Thanks for the comments, Yes it was wide open most of the time, and at iso 800!

What shutters where at as the exif doesnt show it? although i dont think it was too slow, more the lens was a tad slow to AF correctly. But if the light was like it was on Friday up at Rheola (sp) then it was very tricky conditions.

I would be inclined to clone out the bit of grass or twig in the 2nd & 3rd as it detracts from the pics by quite a margin. Good effort otherwise
