Hi All,

Ok, I'm a proper newbie, I got a Pentax K10d a couple weeks ago and have only managed to get out once with it (Blummin work, i hate it !)

I got up at 5.30 one saturday morning put the camera round my neck and the dog on its lead and went to the woods in the pitch black.

Here's the sunrise from that morning.

Thanks to RobertP for sorting me out with linking my pics.

Astonishing colours there m8 - next time, let the dog off the leash or leave it at home and try for a more exciting composition too - here, I'd lose most of the black nothingness at the bottom and much of the RHS of the tree too

As for the moon, it's a shot of the moon, errr.. nice

I'm a great believer in borders helping to define an image too - even if only basic ones

I've always maintained dawn to be the best time of day- less people around too!

Awesome colours. Excellent work. I think the crop & border works better too. I've started to border mine, and the difference is unbelieveable!

Well done!

Thanks for the replies guy/gals,

Yeah,I like that boarder thingy too, it works well.

As I said in the welcome forum.....The pics came from a lot of trial and error with the camera settings and not experience but I guess thats how you end up learning stuff.

I think the first one is really good. An amazing range of the reds/pinks etc! I would be very pleased if I had come across that sky ;)

In fact I've just noticed you're in South Yorkshire too so wherte did you take this shot?! I'm only a beginner myself and would be very pleased with the way it had come out!

Hi Bongo,

I'm in Rotherham, the pic was taken in what we call "Silverwood woods" at Ravenfield. Maybe its really Ravenfield Woods !

Where abouts in Sheff are you ? I'm originally from Sheffield and know it well.

Love that first one.

I've been meaning to catch a sunrise for ages now. But, when it comes down to it I just can't seem to drag myself out of bed at the weekends!

That's not a moon, it's a....

Sorry, sorry.

That first image is beautiful, although I echo comments about a border giving it definition. It's pictures like that that make me regret not living in the country any more.

Wow, superb, love the colours in the first one, & great detail of the moon, I think you need to go straight to the Advanced Section.
