I like, but the big black door on the left is dominating so that the guy caught my eye second...to crop or not...

Yup, the door is a problem, if there was some detail in it it might be better but as is it's a black hole that drags yoiur eye away from the rest of the shot.

I think the picture is fine as it is. I like the contrast between the very dark area and the sunlight.

I like it, i think the contrast between the door and the man/lighter area is nice, and works well. But saying that, if "I" were to crop it, i would do it just to the right of the drainpipe on the building, making it a real tall thin photo, just my 2pence worth;)
