I took this pic. last September in an area where tornados dont occur. Any suggestions:thinking:http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/gallery/data/1255/Cloud_or_Mini_Tornado.jpg

Nice capture :) looks like a shear funnel cloud, I believe it needs to touch the ground to become a tornado.

Funnel cloud, I think. Lovely colours too.

<rant mode>There's no such thing as a mini tornado, by the way! It's either a tornado, or it's not!</rant mode>

the weather conditions look far too stable for anything nasty, I'd say it's probably high Cirus cloud, almost looks like reminants of an aircraft con(densation) trail, tornadoes need to have Cbs around (Cumulonimbus clouds around to form), very nice picture all the same.

Have to agree, just a cloud. But it's a fantastic picture.

Looks like an aircraft contrail (condesation trail) to me. Tornados need a bit of mixing air to form- usualy on the leading edge of thunder storm.

Thanks Kevin. You are correct. I looked at other photos I took on that night & there was a lot of jet aircraft contrails (in the form of red/orange streaks in the sky). This photo taken a few minutes later shows the contrail dispersed:thumbs:http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/gallery/data/500/Dispersed.jpg
