View Full Version : Ruins
I took these the other day the lighting was poor and there was a fence that I had to stick the camera through to get the shots. I was dithering whether or not to put these up as there seems to be several problems with both images. This is of course (in my very limited experience) my opinion, but I just can't put my finger on it. I think the sky in the second shot does not look right and I am unsure how to cure the problem.
What do you think?

I like this image, so much so I have had another play with it, gave it the HDR treatment.
Now I am not an expert on this. Perhaps someone could have another go at it.

Where is this place?
Looks really atmospheric and abandonned.
Nice pic btw

I was about to say Virginia water, but you beat me to it :P
Live right near that, I do.
Its a shame you can't get closer, but theres some right pricks out there who ruin it for everyone else.

The first shot works well and Gerods tweaks work even better!

Nice subject and good shots
Might be worth seeking permission to gain access :naughty:

Had a quick play to cure the sky. All I have done is up the exposure (+0.8) and then adjust level curve and contrast.

Very nice! I think the problem with the second is that it's a little tight and you lose the feeling of space.
Now, is it just me or could you imagine Daniel Jackson wandering around those ruins trying to translate pillars of Ancient text? I'm letting my inner geek out now!

That looks much better I really like it now adjusting the level curve is something I need to work on I can't seem to get what I am after. After sticking the camera through the bars and being unable to use the view finder I can see why live view could be very useful perhaps my next camera;) I am quite pleased with the way you have the image looking now.
Virginia water offers lots of opportunities for landscape so if you live near it is worth a look.
