You could use a mirror style idea? Get a mirror frame with no glass in it, get them to stand either side and pull different poses? Kind of showing two sides of their character?

No worries! I'm sure a few people will be along with some better ideas soon. I've never done any portraiture.

Good luck with it!

The biggest hurdle in shooting twins (in my opinion) is the risk of over-the-top cutesy stuff. My favorite thing to do with twins is just to get them as close together as I can, and then get them interacting.

In that case, containment is key. LOL. Beds work great, where they can bounce to their hearts content. Bathtubs are another favorite of mine. Here's a pair of two-year-old twin girls with their older brother.

I think you have to make sure that any photo that you take of them shows that they are two unique individuals and not what most people see them as one half of a whole. So I would certainly make sure they are not dressed the same etc.

I think another thing is the presentation of the photos. You could shoot a series of each of the twins seperate, then suggest those particular series of shots be framed in one of those frames that have two rows side by side of say 4-5 openings. They would be "together" in a sense, but seperate, doing what makes each of them individuals.

As for the shots of the twins together, I think cjnicolai was spot on. Especially with the no over-the-top cutesy stuff. :P

Good luck!
