Can anyone offer any assistance?

I'm after a small compact camera for up to £200, for the occassions when and DSLR just isn't practical and a phone cam isn't good enough.
I want one to just keep handy in a pocket or in the other half's handag. But, obviously I want something that'll take decent pictures day and night and has a half OK zoom on it. Oh yeah prefer SD storage as I've loads of SD cards knocking about.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you're interested, have a look at my thread in this forum - compact digital for the girlfriend. I've done a little roundup of what I've found out about the ~£150 compact range using review sites and hearsay, plus some personal recommendations from other TPF users

I would highly recommend the canon ixus range. I bought a Canon 850IS recently for under £200. You can pick up a very good range of cameras on ebay from 'digigood' and 'emilyandlily' store as long as you are happy that it is likely to be a grey import but still with a normal warranty. Also, you are likely to get a 'european' charger supplied with a uk adaptor. All these were not a problem for me and the camera is great.

I have a Canon Ixus 60 myself, I am delighted with it. It is pocket sized, easy to use & takes great photos. Search some of my posts on here & you will see some of my photos.
