Right so i got some money for christmas and there isn't a great deal i really want to buy....sooooo i've been looking at a new lens. I've been looking at 55-200mm VR as i could afford it with first week backs wages aswell.
I'll be mainly shooting sports.
What do you all think?

I was thinking of getting that a while back, from the reports i read its pretty good especially for the price. In the end i saved a bit more and got the 70-300 VR. However i have found that because the maximum aperture is not so wide its hard to get reasonable shutter speeds unless the light is bright. Thats not such a problem for me as i mostly use it for landscapes on a tripod or flash lit portraits. If you are hoping to use it for sports you may end up being disappointed. The problem is that any f2.8 lens, which seems to be the thing to use for sport, is seriously expensive! Good luck with whatever you get and Merry Christmas:thumbs:

don't particularly want to spend much more than £170
Can get a vr for £130 ish off ebay brand new.

I doubt it'll focus fast enough for sports - aperture could be a prob too - you need fast glass - and that doesn't come cheap.

what would you recommend then? I'm on a pretty tight budget, i could stretch to around £200
