Hey Guys,
Being a new 400D owner, I would love to get out and take some shots of cars.
Does anybody know of any upcoming car shows in the UK which I could attend?
Regards,
Craig.

We have a shared stand there with Autovogue (http://www.autovogue.com/) and Hamman
The Gallardo on the Autovogue home page is our show car

There's also one called Japan North 2008. Last year's was at Haigh Hall (Wigan), just up the road from me, but I didn't find out about it until it was over! Gutted as I drive an FTO and could have joined the club stand.
Details of last year's event are here (http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=42784).
I'm considering the Autosport Show, especially with DC being there on the Saturday. Is anybody *certain* that SLR cameras will be allowed?

What about the Bike Show at GMEX next weekend?
Carl.
I'm going here for the 2nd time this year .... will be there on saturday.
Last year i took around 1000 photos .... basically about 70% of people there are taking photos anyway
Biggest challenge is to actually get a shot .... its crowded and composition is pretty much always compromised.
I went with a friend last year who's also a photography enthusiast and basically we double teamed .... he would protect my shot (keeping people from walking in front during a shot) and i did the same for him
Last years efforts: here (http://gallery.jmw-photography.com/p768136938/)
Don't expect miracles. Its crowded, with poor lighting, high ceilings and a lot of inconsiderate people getting in the way. Outdoor shows are much better!

Fiesta in the Park in May, I think its on the 14th at Huntingdon Race Course. Only because my car will be on the stand :D
There is one at Chepstow in August, not sure what the dates are though.

If you want to mix with the good and the glorious then you must put the Goodwood Revival Meeting in your diary, this event is probably the best "motor show" in the world, the racing takes place on the old track at Goodwood and is kept to period, all the cars and their drivers must comply with the era that they were originally raced in and you will see cars and bikes from the turn of the century to 1968,when the track closed.I have attended since its inagural meeting some ten years ago and have been lucky enough to meet such stars as Barry Sheene,Murray Walker,Damon Hill Jack Brabham,Colin Bell,Rowan Atkinson,Mark Knopfler etc etc.
You can mix with the drivers and talk to them face to face it is just heaven on earth if you are a petrol head and the whole thing is like a film set and the opportunities for photographs is endless. it takes place in late August or early September every year, just Google Goodwood and you can't go wrong.Just go.
Ken.
Move Goodwood about 4 hours closer and I'm there :)

I can confirm that I will be going to the AutoSport show on the Sunday.
Chrissy - Thanks for that post, I hope to get to most of them this year!
WallisJ - Some great pictures there, thanks for sharing! :D
Craig.
I normally go to the Autosport show and there's no problem taking pics. I found last yr though that it was much the same stuff as yr before so I think I'll give it a miss this yr. And the entry fee gets dearer and dearer each year!

A quick question for you all.
I think I will be buying the Paddock Pass, but I can get a BOGOF on a Standard pass. Is the Paddock pass worth the extra money?
Regards,
Craig.

I bought the paddock pass one year..and didnt really find it worth it. Loads of people had them and so the special places your could supposedly get to were already over-crowded..
The standard ticket is enough for me
:)

With the standard ticket will I be able to see everything?
The main reason I want to go is to see the Supercars! :D

Yeah..you should be able to see more or less everything, unless theres a huge crowd.
I think the paddock passes allow you a beter viewing area in the action arena, which we couldn't find last time..it wasn't clearly marked or shown or anything. And access into a small autograph session place.
However, nowadays, the famous drivers are only avaliable for about 5 minutes for an autograph session and kept hidden away the rest of the time..whereas 5 or 6 years ago, you would bump into murray walker, coulthard, matt neal and other drivers and famous people freely walking about.
In my opinion, if your after autographs, dont bother unless you get lucky and are in the right place at the right time. With or without paddock passes.

best day to go to the autosport show is one of the trade days (if you can qualify for tickets), much quieter so would be better to take pictures.
i wont be going this year, too expensive, but its usually worth a browse
Craig you live in manchester like us we all travelling to castle combe in may for track action that would get you some nice pics :)
