I have started tinkering around with manual focus lenses as they are fairly cheap used, as well as there being a vast array of quality lenses to choose from.

This was taken with a Russian made Helios 44-2 58mm f2. It m42 mount so had to use an adapter to get it on the Nikon...which also means you lose infinity focussing, although for close-up work it really gives a nice bokeh wide open...

It looks like it could be underwater!! id have prefered a little more light this side of the moss, just to bring out some texture detail.. Those Russians eh!! What they lack in Technology they make up for in Quality..

Nice photo- you're right about the bokeh.

Glad to see you're re-visiting some of the older manual focus lenses. If you're not in a hurry to focus (as is often the case with macro work) then an old m/f lens can be ideal (and cheap!).
