Canon EOS 350D vs Nikon D40

I am sure that this has been argued to death before - but I am a clueless newbie which doesn't have a clue - and don't really have anyone to ask. Anyone feel that I should really choose one over the other? :)

standard reply is......try to pick up and handle them both and see which one feels right unless anyone does / has owned both of those cameras they cant really put the good and bad points to you .

I use the D40, not half bad :) They both have their pros and cons but I prefer the feel of the Nikon

People say that the Nikon doesnt have autofocus for a lot of the lenses, is that the same for the Canon? :)
