Thanks Del.
It wasnt to start with so i straighted in line with the cornice but i see what you mean about the columns....so i will blame the sigma 10-20

Hi Sheep,

Right, I'll take the time to comment on each picture if thats okay with you.

1

I quite like the framing of this shot with the exception of the trees on the right, you've chopped the top of them slightly but I don't think this makes that much of a difference.

The main thing for me is the position of the sun and the shadow its cast on the right hand side of the monument. I'm not sure what is to the side or behind where you are from taking this shot but looking at it from another angle or later next year when the sun is higher might give you a better shot.

2

I quite like this one, but as Del says it doesn't quite look straight to me, as you say it could be the barrel distortion of the 10-20. Cloning the slight bit of tree out from the top right might also help.

3

I can see what you were trying to do here but I don't think it works from this angle. I think the only way to get a pefect shot of this would be to get the entire thingymabob (blue thing) in frame and lie flat on your back shooting upwards (something else to try on your next trip)

4

I like the way that the path leads us up to the stone. If you'd taken the shot from a little further away or had it a little wider it might have been a little more breathtaking. But I like this - best one of the series.

5

Again, I see where you were going but the sun has ruined the shot, I'd try it again when the sun is higher and maybe from a slightly lower vantage point so that you're pointing completely upwards at the statue.

6

A nice scene that would be better if someone hadn't put that aerial there :(

Again the shadows are a problem but thats the trouble with this time of year.

All in all a nice pick, thank you very much for sharing :)

Thanks a lot Matt for taking the time to search these out and I really appreciate the
comments.

On 1 I did look at other angles but there were too many people about that would have required alot of post processing to get rid of them!

On 2 as you will see i did straighten but using the cornice.

On 3 I agree it would be great to look straight on...I will have to lay on the round brass map that shows the direction of the various locations that can be seen from here..not necessarily a problem.

On 4 I will look at this so long as i dont disappear over the edge that lies behind me.

On 5 ok

On 6 I know thw aerials (national grid) and maybe the water tank..guess i could try processing them out.

Once again Matt thanks give me ideas for next time.

Thats okay I hope that I've managed to bring a bit of constructive criticism and give you a few ideas ;)

I'm going to try to post more on the pictures, although they might have to wait until later today - its getting late :p

Don't go falling off the edge of any cliffs - no photo is worth that ;)
