I took this a few weeks ago under pretty awful conditions - the handler was tossing the bird up and down on the glove for my benefit. I used flash but the powerful fluorescent lighting has produced blur due to the secondary ambient exposure.

It does show though, how still these apex predators can keep their head when everything else is moving!

And a chubby Chaffy caught sunbathing.

I like the buzzard. The sharp head and blurred wings give a fantastic feel of agility

The Chaff is a cracker, and the branch provides a perfect anchor for the image providing a needed depth to counterbalance the brightish light (no shadows) and the soft BG.

The Buzzard I'm not so keen on , as the blurry glove distracts.

Very sharp Head CT it shame about the blue tint, though its not really noticable
A well put discription, also these things can spot carrion miles away whilst soaring or indeed worms / mice whilst sitting in swaying trees.

Well they do say you don't form any real bond with these birds, but this guy rescued this Buzzard all smashed up - both wings and legs. I'm not sure what happened, but the vet wanted to put it down. Keith spent ages nursing it back to health, and hunts and flies it regularly. He has other birds but this was his first one. There's definitely a bond there, the damned bird never takes it's eyes off him. Great to see actually. :)

1) fat or top weight usually when they put down for the moult
bit like having a roast everyday you know that bloated feeling couldn't give a damn about anything :D
2) Response weight, yep you wave a morsel and we will come for it.
3) Hunting weight very keen response to handler ( they love you at this point :D and will hunt like a demon if asked
