View Full Version : O dirty one!
This one's beak was either very dirty or naturally that colour. It managed to be the dominant bird and see all the others off.

Thats very good, nice composition with the branch at an angle in the corner, focusing, colours and sharpening look spot on to me.
Well taken, and as usual a thread title that makes me click on it ;)

Nice capture Janice.
He has a dominant air and looks as if he's puffing out his chest
Great sharp image
Nicely done, and well placed in the frame. Blackbird colour varies enormously, and in good light they can show some fantastic feather colour and detail... as here. :)
Excellent shot. Blackbirds, like Robbins are very territorial.

1st one's a cracker Janice, well shot and wonderfully framed! 2nd's good as well :D
Damn!
Wish everyone would stop posting these wonderful bird shots!
I just cant seem to get close enough myself, or the light is so poor that noise becomes a big issue.
Really lovely shots Janice!
Am I being a pi****k. I thought that was a starling.

LOL. Definitely a Blackbird. Blackbirds actually vary in colour from dense black to quite light brown sometimes. Starlings are a much more streamlined looking bird and the colours are very different.
Starling...

This one is now reaching maturity hence the dirty beak look.
And another piece of useless information the Blackbird is actually a Thrush.

I was about to rant there, Mitch!! I thought you were implying that my original blackbird shot has been misnamed as it is a thrush! :D
I realise that you meant it is the thrush family!
