I bought a couple of raynox macro lenses last year (202 and similar format but half strength). They were really a set sold for a compact camera and came with a special lens attachment. I was hoping to get some way of fitting them to my 6500 (58mm filter size).

I first tried jessops to see if I could get a step down filter but they no longer sell them at all  let alone in such a big size difference. I have seen them advertised by a chinese seller on US ebay and they say they ship worldwide.

Ideally I would get one of the proper raynox clip on adapters but the only place I have found that sell them is in Spain and with postage it is about £20. Obviously this would be the most convenient but is more expensive.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a shop that may sell step down filter rings?

If by 'shop' you mean bricks and mortar then maybe Jacobs? Online-wise try http://www.crookedimaging.co.uk/ or http://www.surreyphotographyshop.co.uk/. I've bought from both without any problems with CI being a bit cheaper.

Local to me, and always has a good selection.

You may need two step downs to get where you're going.
