View Full Version : Baby
This is one from a recent baby shoot of mine (first one ever actually). I was very nervous and the baby wasn't in a very good mood most of the time, but managed to get a few I was pleased with.
I like this shot, but think something is missing or something could be done to make it better... Any suggestions?
The high-key approach and DOF were intentional.

Don't really know how you could improve on this...
IMHO it has a bit of a sci-fi movie poster look to it and I would have thought you could have moved the eye ever so slightly more to the centre:shrug:
But then it forms such a beautifully strong triangle with the nose and mouth.
I think it is as good as I could get or would want it

Not sure if I like this or not .. .. But find myself staring at it for some reason .. :D
Going to have to sit on the fence on this one .... It has a kind of ET movie feel to it, which I like.
So long as the parents like it, thats all that counts ...

My first thought was its a bit overexposed, but then I find myself staring at the eye.
Well I think it is a fantastic picture, quite fascinating. Yeh it's bit sci-fi but very, very interesting:thumbs::thumbs:
As the focus of this image is the baby's eye I would be inclined to try a bit of cloning to cut down on the reflection of the light?

:agree: ... and apart from moving it slightly left of edge I too cannot see how you could improve it ... :suspect: ... different but good at the same time ...
:p
Thanks for the comments guys. :)
I agree with you guy about the reflection too. I think that's what has been bothering me about the shot. I'll have another go and see if I can tune the reflection down some. (I have limited photoshopping skills lol)
Cheers!
Im not a fan of high key,I do like the sharpness of baby;s eye, however, the rest of the face is too blown out , even in high key there is some tonal range, I would ( personaly) get a blur tool, and blur out even more of the baby's face, so you can just make out that its a face, giving more focus to the eye, and making the picture look much more controlled. Sweet little thing isnt he/she?
