Yesterday we had bushfires a few hours away from where I live, so the sunset last night was really pretty, blue sky with pink and blue clouds.

Hey SW, I really like the composition of that! The power lines strangly seem to work!
What image editing software are you using? My only reason for asking is that I think boosting the colours and curves would possible give a more representative image.
:)
swiftwind,,,
i like the picture, but i do feel the power lines spoil it, its like you just steped out the back door to take the shot without considering the composition, you could have possibly took a 5 min walk and had a great shot instead...
i also feel its a little flat in colour to,

Stoopid question but ... why would bush fires be responsible for a great sky ?
Or am I missing something ?:confused-
By the by - great shot but I have to agree the wires do not enhance it ! PO !:p

well..... the fire creates polutants which defracts the rising or setting sunlight due to the angle it hits it, thus creating colours in the sky
does that help

I spent a very cold afternoon waiting for a Hemel Hempstead fire sunset - only to find it wasn't that special.

Thanks for the commets & critique! :) I'll enhance the colours and see how it turns out. I should also mention I purposfully left the powerlines in the shot... I did take a few shots of just the sky (no powerlines, houses or trees) but I thought it didn't look that nice. If the opportunity arises again I'll give it a few more goes.
I don't know what photobucket does to photos! It's enhanced the colours even more than I had.. but anyway...

What program do you use to process your images?

Adobe Photoshop
The colours look a little washed-out to me, that's all. Try adjusting the levels a little to beef-up the colours a bit.
