Hi,

I am just starting out with my new dslr but am so far finding it difficult taking pictures of people. Had a fair whack this weekend so here is a few. I would appreciate any feedback bad or good, or even any hints or helpful tips. Thanks!

I think the colour in no.2 is brilliant, has a very silvery satin look about it...not sure if you did some photoshop adjustments, or if it's natural, but its great. I wish the pic was a bit bigger, in the sense a little less cropping, etc.

I really like the first shot - it has a great retro feel about it.

the first shot for me!

The 2nd in my opinion and that's only 12 month worth is it could be better also in B&W [basegreen], but I love B&W, so perhaps my view is basis!

Thanks for the feedback, its been really helpful, obviously still got a lot to learn. I did photoshop the second shot and made it a lot softer. Here it is in B&W and slightly less cropped!

Bit David Bailey in that first one - Jean Shrimpton?!! Shame you cut off her left arm (though you have clearly cropped to a square - if you cropped from that side and the full arm is on the 'negative' then get it back!! Certainly a great start.

I love that second photo, especially in black and white.

2nd one in colour for me too - as you had, the washed out slightly bleak look worked well - the shade of the flowers is just right.

I like them both, though for me number 2 seems a little wonky

Number two seemed a bit wonky to me too. Maybe it's the trellis on the right hand side which gives the pic it's vertical?

I prefer number two too. I'd like to see it with her face 'popped' out of the B&W, but in that lovely, almost pastel flesh tone you have.

Good stuff!

No 2 for me. I like the colour and black and white versions. If I had to choose I would go with the b&w version. Good stuff.

I personally like the 2nd in colour. I just like how the colour of the flowers and the colour of her skin look with eachother. It does have a kind of darker feel to it though, did it have a certain concept behind it?

Like them both very good the fact that there is no reflection in the glasses very nice,
Second in B&W perhaps with the colour restored to the flower heads i dont know if that will work or even if it can be done.
Keep shooting your going great
