I had another quick go at external lighting, just bounced off the walls. Id love some critique on the lighting and any tips on how I could reduce the hotspot on the cheek. Im aware of the hairs on the forehead, this was taken after midnight in a rush as its for the strobist bootcamp assignment 1 which is due today.

I'd try to introduce a tad more angle/variation with your flashguns as you've achieved very even, flat lighting which seems to have removed some 3D'ness (that's a word...:lol:) from the portrait.
Angling a diffused flash more should introduce a tad more definition - maybe also try bouncing the flash from the ceiling & using a reflector to bring some light to more shaded areas when using this technique.

I agree with the above comments, and also IMHO I think shooting from a slightly higher angle would have been a little more flattering to her.
