Each year, I do the "official" photographs for the rugby club D&D. This year, I want to get them to a more professional standard than I have in the past.

With my gear and knowledge, I know that I can't get them professional like the pro togs among us, but I hope with your advice, I can get as close as I can.

Here is the link to last year's photos

Can anyone help and advise what to do this year (apart from take my tripod) - what gear might I potentially need to buy?

As always, any advice will be gratefully received :D

Can't see the pictures.

As for kit, the 40D and 70-200 lens combination should be capable, so how about adding a speedlite.
