I am going away snowboarding soon and obviously want to take my kit with me. I am undecided as to what kit i should take though. I have a canon 30D with grip and will take my Sigma 10-20mm, but i cant decided whether to take the 70-200 2.8 IS with x1.4 TC or my 70-300 4-5.6 IS. My head tells me to take the L series but i am thinking of weight for snowboarding and then of course insurance value.

Any suggestions?

take the L glass you'll only regret it later if you don't!

there should be plenty of light reflecting off the snow. i,d go for the range of the 70-300.

70-300, yes it's a slight trade off in image quality but it's a lot lighter and smaller than the L and when you're carrying it around in your pack whilst snowboarding I think that will make the difference.:)
