I took this shot in London, not far from the Tate Modern (one of my favourite places to meandre through). Anyway, for your info, its a candid, I focussed on them, then pretended to be taking something else whilst holding the focus then I quickly moved back to them and clicked, then I quickly moved round pretending to take something else instead. Great fun but not so good for the nerves....they were quite a way away so not easy to ask permission, and if they had agreed the pose would not look the same.

I like this shot, I feel there is a lot of thought between the couple, which adds a lot to the picture for me.
Defiantly a better shot for not being posed
Too much DoF - the couple blend into the background too much for my liking. The boat hold my attention far too much.
i quite like it, but i do see Arkadys reasoning though, could do with bluring the boat
I'll be covering candids in my trip to London at the end of January. Real candids - i.e. without the knowledge of the subject and what we call 'environmental portraits' which is a posed or half-posed shot with the knowledge of the sitter but looking natural and uncontrived.
Much easier.
Oh, by the way - I like the sepia treatment, may be a little dark, but good colour. See some of my pix in the Girlie folder for a less OTT approach.
First impressions were a little too dark but, I think it is growing on me. It's a good scene and the effect certainly creates a mood but I'd have to agree that the backgrounds draws attention from the couple. Still great capture and credit for being braver than I.
