Took this one from Tombs of the Kings, Paphos, which must be a good mile or so away but I couldn't physically get any closer with out really going out of my way and getting the shot wasn't that important. But anyway, threw the rule of 1/3's out the window, and got another vertical landscape. Actually I'm starting to wonder if i've ever taken a 'traditional' landscape...:

I like that :)

Not sure that you've thrown the rule of 3rds away though, the shot to me shows forground, middle ground and the sky makes the last third.
The focal point being the lighthouse draws the eye into the picture across the field.

did you crop to that?

i wonder what it would have looked like if cropped further to the left so as to put the light house off centre.

The Rule Of Thirds isn't carved in stone. This works for me with a great feeling of depth and distance.

Guess I've started doing it on auto-pilot. Its over 6 months since I took this shot, and there's always been something I like about it that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

No it isn't cropped at all - its exactly as taken (apart from the saturation turned up a little and sharpened a little).

Great image! I love the recession on this lovely photograph, it shows great depth, giving it a real 3D effect.

I think that image kind of has thirds anyway, sky, land in the background and the foreground.

I like the picture :)
