I want to be able to build my own ecommerce site whereby clients can download their photograph files to it, state quantity etc., then fill out a name and address form, and finally pay through a shopping cart either by card or Paypal for the service we are offering - which is to print, retouch and mount the photos and return them by post.

Can anyone recommend a site/web gallery builder which offers these features? Thanks.

I dont know how involved you would like to get in your site or if your looking for something for free but, check these guys out http://contrastwebsolutions.co.uk, they did an ecommerce site for a friend of mine and its mega.

I'm sure you could get Gallery2 to do something like this but you will need to think latterally. It will require your web provider to give you database support and allow you to install PHP scripts.

I have it on my website and it allows people to purchase event photos online and pay through paypal, but I know it also supports user account registration and upload to personal areas, it also has disk space quotas on a per user basis, so would fit nicely with what you are trying to achieve.

It is relatively easy to set up but you will need some basic web design skills, so good luck if you go for that option.
