We've temporarily disabled the search for the moment, see how the server load goes. We're doing many tweaking and things to give you the snappy TP that you all love ;)
So please hang in there!, and check back here for updates.

All done! Don't think the search is actually impacting the loads much. Well it didn't this evening (relieve the server loads disabling the search).
Will be tweaking some small things too (Who's Online etc).
Then next thing to try possibly sometime tomorrow, is disabling the Gallery for a short while. We'll give you ample warning when we do though :)

Good one Joe, the site is fast approaching 6,000 members, if only half of them are active on the site and they donate £1 each wouldn't that give a big boost to the Hamsters food bill?
I know some of you already donate to the site upkeep, to my shame I haven't thought about it.

We are looking at new server packages at the moment, but we need to eliminate the possiblity of it being a needless change, the current specs should be able to cope with the forums for some months yet, which is why we are trying to ensure we haven't got something acting a bit :cuckoo: in the background.

So it's not just my poota set up causing the TP go slow this end then ... :shrug: ... PHEW ... :D

I'm glad it's not just me that had noticed the pauses in between clicks. If better server/hosting's required then I'll happily give a bit of money to the cause, or any expertise/recommendations/"turn it off and on again" suggestions.

One strange thing I noticed today was I put up a new thread under the Out of Focus section but it never appeared as a new thread on the first screen you see when logging on to TP.
It's listed under Out of Focus ok.

One strange thing earlier today. I added a new thread under the Out of Focus section. It appeared ok in that section but didn't appear on the first screen you see when you log on to TP.
Perhaps it was nicked by aliens!
Some sections don't show on the front page. Think OOF is one that doesn't. thread titles might put off new visitors :lol:

Robert's correct. The OOF forum doesnt show up on New Posts or the front pages "Recent Posts" section :)

Nothing of any great significance thats for sure! :lol:
As part of our investigative measures to finding out whats behind the server gremlins, we will be temporarily disabling the gallery this evening for about an hour.
During this time, some images in posts *may* not show.
The switchoff will happen at 9 o clock.
We won't be deleting any photos or anything (no more than our usual culling ;)) but any you are uploading WHILE we flick the switch, may get lost in the process.
The forums will continue as normal :)

Yup, that nice new macbook air might as well be sent to me as there is nothing wrong with the one you have :D
Its very hit and miss, I was just in Talk and everything was fine, came down here to see if there was any results posted from testing and it took 4 minutes to load this thread.
jpegs load fine once you get into a particular thread, its the threads titles themselves that keep you waiting.
I'm not website literate, its just an observation, they may very well be linked..dunno.
Well I do think it's time for us to shop around for another server....Yet another upgrade :D

I've noticed the page loading has been a bit erratic at times; sometimes quick, sometimes a bit slower.
It's worth the wait ***' :thumbs:
