received a Nikon D50 for xmas, and got myself a Sigma 18-200mm F3.5 - 6.3 lens to go with...
I was trying to emulate some of the close up shots of eye's that have been posted, and this is one i took last night of myself (camera on tripod, me with remote shutter release!)
I am pleased with the results, but any critique is welcome!
happy new year!

I really like this shot, loads of detail in the eye.
heh, well done! happy with your gifts??
Another Nikon user to upset Steve.
Hurrah!
Nice shot! The only thing I might have changed would be to increase the saturation and lightness of the iris to bring it out more. But that's my own personal choice

such a beautful eye....I love the skin tones of the original and the colour of the latter one....I might have to go and get my(his) macro lens out! ;)
That's getting there, but I would have just made those adjustments to the iris using a layer mask. I feel the tone of the rest of the eye in the first shot was fine.
If you don't mind I'll edit it and show you what I mean
