View Full Version : Birdwatch birds
Did the RSPB survey this afternoon. Then had a session trying to photo a few. The light was poor but I haven't been snapping for months now, so here are a few noisy, heavily PP'd photos !!

What kinda bird is the last one ???? you caught that one really well. The Nuthatch is a bit soft around the eyes but the robin is again brilliantly caught. What a scrawny fella lol xx

Well done mate.
The Robin is a real character!
The Long Tailed Tit is a gorgeous shot.
Poor little Robin, doesn't look like he's eaten for weeks :(
Nice set Keith, well lucky to have a LT tit in your garden.

Lovely images Keith ... ... LTTs always take it for me ... :D ... but I don't think I have seen quite such a scruffy Robin at this time of year ...
:p
Thanks for the comments. Most of the shots from the session were deleted ! The light was really poor. Compared with the quality of my shots last summer these were really poor. I used Paint Shop Pro on most of them plus Neat Image to reduce the noise. They've had Unsharp Mask applied and then been sharpened even more!
It's a credit to PSP that any were salvaged at all!
That robin looks like he had a heavy night on the sauce.
Nice set of pictures.

Hi Nightwing, The last one is a Long Tailed Tit. They usually move around in families. Just lately we've been having from 8 to 10 at a time, but just on cue for the RSPB Birdwatch hour, we counted 14 at one time !

love the LTT, but the robin looks like a real street urchin!

Despite the Awww factor !! Robins are highly territorial. They defend their territory aggresively! They even 'see off ' their own youngsters once they've matured.
That poor little Robin will never make it onto a christmas card aaah!
