hi all had something happen today whilst shooting some pics at a show the camera was set to manual and lens to auto 5D, 28-70, using flash. shutter 125, f8 what kept happening as I was shoting away the shutter speed kept coming down sometimes as low as 8. anybody got any ideas ??? thiss is the first real time I have taken alot of pics with this camera lens set up.

The 5D is a clever camera I think you may have the automatic exposure safety function set so it will automatically compensate and will not let you under/over expose take a look in your manual.

thanks for that lets hope it is that simple :) the only problem is I am in japan and the manual is back in the uk :lol: but at least that has put my mind at rest. now back to bed

I'm also away at the moment and don't have my manual either but I'm sure that the safety function only operates in Tv and Av modes. Manual is manual and should let you do whatever you want.
The safety shift is Cf 16....set to 0 to disable it....worth a try.

looks like it may have been the grip :bonk: it was turned on and I may have been knocking the wheel have now turned off and see how it goes today not the saame situation but hopefully it will give me a clue if it was
