Otherwise known as Physalis franchetii. A still life with the emphasis on colour.

You've got this stuff sorted havent you, Tony! Your last one was brilliant too. Is it natural light?

very nice, I like it

obs imo - few dust spots, like the reflection ***.
I think the pot should be central, and it feels a bit close to that kind of background.
The crop is a little tight, I wouldn't mind one side of the arrangement being closer to the frame edge than the other if the pot were central, it looks like you didn't notice when infact you were probably framing the "bush".
Both the background, pot and surface are well suited to focussing your attention on the lanterns, nice lighting and colour.
Theres something not right with the left half of the background, its not just darker because of the lighting, it has some green or yellow or something, maybe its filtered light through the lanterns, dunno, just takes the edge off it..

Thanks for the comments folks. Yep, natural light Janice, from a window on the right. It's responsible for any colour casts. There's space round the vase in the original Joxby, so the crop's my choice here. Hadn't spotted the spots - thanks. Once again the vase and lanterns are all my wife's work, the background etc mine.

Thats gorgeous Tony! Only thoughts are around the positioning of the pot, but understand your view on crop which seems perfect. Difficult to centre the pot and keep the balance.... a connundrum ;)

Texture, vibrance and colour by the bucket-load

Thanks for the further comments guys. Yes Ally, I used a sheet of black plastic to sit the vase on (then fiddled with it a bit :).

Very, very good composition although if I was slightly nit-picking I'd see if you could edit it with the same amount of space on the left and right hand side as you've got above the subject, just think that would balance it perfectly.....imho...but nevertheless a lovely image.
