I've read a few threads here asking how people save and back-up their files. The reason I ask is that I've noticed that DVD's I've backed up to say 6 months ago and which have not seen the light of day until now appear to have yellowed, this can only mean that the dye is degrading, which logically makes me think that in the near future they could be corrupt and of no use.
Speaking to a friend at work he too has experienced this and in his opinion the most stable media is the humble CD, ok so there's not a great many RAW files you can back-up on one disc but at least it gives some comfort that they will still be accessable in the future.
I suppose it's a bit like not buying an 8GB CF card and instead buying four 2GB cards because if you lose the 8GB you've lost everything on there.
Thought about external drives but same is applicable but on a bigger scale!
So has anybody else experienced problems with DVD's?

It is possible to buy archive quality DVDs. Here's an article in Luminous Landcape about them.

I just backup to HDDs in USB caddies - they're so cheap now.
