I am in search for a Teleconverter to go with my Nikon 70-300VR lens.
I have viewed various ones, but would like some help or how you have experienced yours or from those that may have used the following.

1; Kenko Teleplus AF 1.5x DG Teleconverter for Nikon AF-D
2; Kenko Teleplus AF 2x DG Teleconverter MC-4 Nikon AF-D
3; Kenko Teleplus AF 2x DG Teleconverter MC-7 for Nikon AF-D
4; Kenko Teleplus AF 1.4x Teleconverter Pro-300 DG for Nikon AF-D

I believe that 4 is used with Prime lens only....

Any help gratfully received.

I use sigma on sigma lenses and if I was using one on a nikon lens I would use a nikon one.

I don't know the quality of your lenses but if they're of a good standard then you should avoid the MC-4 and MC-7 range.....I used the PRO 300's with my Canon L's until I got Canon's own T/C's.
I also tried Sigma's version but found it had a strange colourcast which probably means that they are matched to Sigma's lens coating.....as Gareth alluded to to.

I agree usally, but the price difference is quite a bit, considering they do much of the same.
Thanks for the reply.

I feel the Nikkor 70-300vr is a decent lens, I thought the PRO were for Primes lens only. am i wrong.

Thanks for the reply...

Any luck with finding a TC that works with you Nikon 70-300VR? I have a friend who's asked me the same question, but haven't been able to get a sure find on this.

No nikon TC will work with any 70-300 nikon zoom. It mangles the elements.

not sure about the kenko though.

The Kenko PRO TC will work on the 70-300 VR, but not well. The image quality will be pretty soft, you will all but lose autofocus on anything over 200mm and will probably need to shoot at 1600 iso to get an image, even in bright sunlight. The viewfinder image will also be so dark at 300mm you'll probably need a miner's lamp to see anything. In short, forget it.

Thank you for the feedback ... my point of view was that if she (friend) wanted something longer then for the price of the 70-33VR & TC she should simply get a Sigma with upto 500mm!

It seems like it's either one of the super-long range Sigmas, or the combination with the relatively poor results.
