Hi Folks
Yet another Newbie - My names Allan and I'm from Carlisle in Cumbria on the border of Scotland and England.
I'm lucky to have the Lake District on my doorstep, and my work takes me around the county alot, so the camera comes with me.
I only got back into photography at the start of last year but am really enjoying it. I use a fuji S602Zoom which I'm really happy with (other than it eats batteries).
I'm looking forward to getting some comments on some of my photos and taking part in some of the banter.
Thanks
Allan (Keltic Ice Man)

welcome Allan ,
i had the S7000, which sort of replaced the 602,
the S7000 also ate batteries like no ones business, the best way is to buy high capacity AA rechargables ( 2300mah ) and always have a spare set with you, also take a set of standerd AA's for emergencies,
the 602 takes great pix, so lets see some ( if you want to that is , lol)

Getting slightly offtopic, I have an S5100 which is great with batteries. It just goes forever. I have 3 sets of batteries; 2500mah, 2300mah, and 2000mah. Bet I could take at least 800-1000 shots (with plenty of that 'chimping' lark thrown in) without recharging any of them.
Hello, by the way. :)

Welcome, Allan!
Enjoy it here -- it's a lot of fun! :D I'm from Montreal, Canada - but live in Sunderland in NE England.
I have a Fuji S7000 -- and love it. Great camera. I recently got a Nikon D50, but the Fuji still comes with me all the time!
Looking forward to seeing some of your photos

Hi Guys
Thanks for a really warm welcome. Seems real friendly around here, and it's so great to be able to talk about photography with so many people around the globe.
It's also great to hear that some of you have fuji cameras.
I'm hoping to try my hand at posting a couple of my pics in the next few days, and I think bigger capacity rechargeable batteries is definately something I should try as the answer to the battery eating problem.
On batteries Does anyone know any good ways of storing rechargeable batteries after they have been charged or for how long a rechargeable holds its charge if it is not put in the camera.
Thanks
Allan (Keltic Ice Man)
Welcome Allan, my pet hamsters powering my internet died so i missed your post, welcome! I used to have an S5100, definately worth going for some hi-capacity batts!

:wave1: Welcome to the forums!
Hi Allan, looking forward to the Lake District shots. Handed over lots of dosh in the past to a nice hotel called Nanny Brows in Ambleside, with a very short walk round the back that took you to the most breathtaking view of Windermere :)
Hi there :)
I know the Lakes quite well, my parents had a caravan just on the outskirts of Carlise and I used to live in Manchester. Between the two I could cover most of the west side of the country photography wise :)
It is nice to have you join us anyway :thumb:
