Awwwww man, thats stunning, just sat sitting, beautiful. Would love to see a slightly tighter crop as it is such a gorgeous bird and you seem to have captured the colours perfectly !

fantastic stuff these are normally seen as a blue streak if your lucky, due to the fact they just sit for ages and often hear or see you ages before you see them then all you see is the streak . Cracking shot congratulations

Beautiful, once in a lifetime shot.

:D There must a few Kingfishers breeding in this wildlife haven they call Stockport.
Last year, I tried to photograph one that was standing on a supermarket trolly by the canal behind Kwik Save in Romiley...I managed to capture a small blue smudge as it flew off.

I was doing a spot of fishing that day, didn't catch anything but still went home with a feeling of great satisfaction because I'd seen a Kingfisher.

IMO the greatest sight in British wildlife.

Hi

Thanks for the replies,

I have been in the Lakes for the weekend.
I have about 200 or so very similar pics due to the 10fps, some better than others from the same day.

Reddish Vale is a good place to spot the Kingfishers, i got the shot i posted on the back pond as its called.

I am thinking of printing it out as im really pleased with the quality supposedly the 100-400 with a 1.4 convertor sucks.

Hope to post so more images soon.

Thanks again

Lee

When I first looked I thought the same as dseered in that it needed a tighter crop, but looking at the original, WOW. certainly the best seen.

Very well Done.

What set up are you using by the way purplepleaser????

purplepleaser
25-02-2008, 20:23
Hiya

Set up 1dMK3 100-400 plus 1.4 con. Dont often use the 1.4 as it slows the AF down a bit.
Still learning with the camera, so many buttons and custom functions

Very nice! Im using a 30D with 70-200 2.8 and 2x extender...same setup as the 100-400 really just a little slower AF but it does the job :)
