Nice set Gary, does this mean you might be switching over to a proper sport and not this roundy roundy stuff you have been photographing before:lol:
Number 6 and 8 for me.
8 is a cracker, very well done.
Thats a good set of images Gary:thumbs: Shame all "pugs" don't sound like that one:love:
I think mabey you could have done with a slightly higher vantage point for some of the shots though............say about 3";)

Cracking set - not sure about 2 or 3 either as I found I was tilting my head to look at them. So nothing wrong with the angles you've used in some of your shots, but maybe straighten those 2 a little bit!
For some reason 6 & 8 are my favourites. Both with the car moving away. Dunno why.
Thanks for showing them. A quick review of mine this PM - I wasn't that pleased with them but will get a few up tomorrow...

Great set gary!

Pic no 2. I was just in front of that guy in the bottom left of the pic!
We almost met lol.
I was the guy with 2 kids, a Suzuki jacket and cam on a monopod..

i'm from London, i learned a long time ago to blank out people shouting at you unless they are really determined :)

Determined?
You werent that bloody interesting :bonk::bonk:
Kidding.. Shame I didnt get your attention though.
Some great shots there, not so sure about #2 but the rest are great.
I've done loads of rally photography but I've never done any at a track, I think I would miss being close to the action :p
Shots 6 and 8 for me,berloody brilliant for your first time rally experience :)

Nice set!
Think I like the Evo as a photo best... if only that Mk1 Escort had a little more space in front though... slightly cropped it at the front and the rear space could do with being at the front, but I know there is only so much Photoshop can do!
Looks like you had fun!

yeah i was a bit disappointed with that on. there was a spectator on the right, and a tree on the left, so i had to get the shot at exactly the right millisecond, but i cut a very tiny bit off the front :(

Looks like you were using a 70-200, so never as though you could have gone any wider... I'm only saying this because I love Mk1 Escorts :D

because i could only use that lens in that light, i had to stand back a bit, which made the spectator and the tree more in my way. If i'd had wider lens i could have stood closer.
i wasnt quite sure whether to be cheeky and ask the spectators to move :)

this would have been my best shot of the whole event.
i stood where i thought i could get a good shot. i saw the safety car come through and i thought to myself 'ahh that didnt seem to fast, i'm ready for the first competitive car'
when the first car came through sideways in a massive shower of sparks i cacked my pants and jumped out of the way. hence the blurring!
but it would have been such a great shot if i wasnt so gutless!

Remember... the shot is useless if you and the camera are smushed to a pulp! lOL!

thats very true, but the spot was a lot safer than it looks. i'm just used to cars pointing at me whilst travelling in a different direction :)
as i was saying to Ross yesterday, i just couldnt believe some of the crazy places people stand at these things.

It can get a little mad... definitely be careful with a wide angle on your camera... you get sucked in and maybe under the cars/bikes/trucks!!

LOL
i'll take a 500mm just to be on the safe side :)

I almost had a trials bike for a hat the other week... only my friend pointing out that I was waaaaay to close saved me I think!
I was just annoyed that even after almost getting mangled the shot didn't really do anything for me :(
pretty good for a first time out  Not sure about some of the angles though ;)
Good set from you as always although have to agree not to sure on some of the earlier angles :)
