thats fabulous i love it.
there seems to be a line running across the b/g behind his forehead. and another the same just above his shoulders. is this part of the background. its very slightly intrusive. i do love this shot though. he looks very interesting.

I suspect this might be due to a slight amount of over sharpening, I will go back and ease off on the sharpening

Great stuff. Congratulations. I would do it with a longer lens and I'd crop it differently, leaving more space on the top of the picture, but it's totally subjective. Fantastic face! :)

That's a really great, expressive photo. A little soft round the ears, but you'd expect that with such a shallow d.o.f.
