Provide free templates / borders / textures ?

Noting this site now has written authority from Digital Photo Mag to shares it's cover discs, what about taking it a step further. On some of these discs are excellent free borders / templates / textures etc.

What about loading some of them on to this site for forum members to be able to download at will. Most are small K size, although pixels are for around 10x8 prints. If you advertised images are from Digital Photo Magazine, I'm sure they would be happy with free publicity :thumb:

I am not 100% sure but I believe there is a difference between being allowed to share original coverdiscs (by passing them around as you are not duplicating content) and offering content from the coverdiscs as a download, that then becomes distrabution. We would have to check on the lagality of that first if we thought it was a good idea.

I would have thought if they were freeware it wouldn't be a drama - could be wrong of course - there may be a caveat on the disk somewhere that means you ought to buy a new magazine every time you want to open a file or something...

Some of the content I would assume is not freeware though, it much like the TPF actions we offer on this site, they are free for anyone to download but not to distrabute themselves elsewhere.

Like I say it is likely that we would need written permission again.

In my experience, only about two or three of the available borders on these disks are any good anyway - they do sometimes serve as a good starting point though...
Maybe there's a way of displaying the border without the means to copy it along with a 'How-To' on creating your own?
