a nice shot of you Nan but you may want to lighten some of the shadows on her face.

The second shot shadow from the cap means you can't see her face or eyes, so you would need a reflector or up lighter to get round this issue.

Both way too dark. The bg in No 1 is a fair bit messy too.

Thanks for the tips.... I have just logged on at work and they look wayyy darker than they did last night on my lap top! There seemed to be a lot more definition and detail especially in the first one...

=) Can only learn!!
