heh heh, the punk rocks!
That first shot is a beauty Mike - it doesn't get much better or sharper than that.
Try running NR just on the bg though - it makes a bigger difference than you might think.

The Blue Tits are looking fantastic as Spring approaches.

Hi Cedric,
Thanks for the compliment, the NR sure does make a difference, I have done a new version with Neat Image which does the full pic, I don't have anything that can do background only but here it is anyway. What do you think ?

The sun is bringing the best out of all the birds I see in the garden just now with the sap is rising ;)

Ooooh, I love the first one, very clear and fantatic detail as well as being very sharp. I also love the second one, the blue stands out really well on the bird.

That's loads better Mike, although it has just taken the edge off the feather detail, but I'm a fussy git! :D
It's better than most NR programmes though, I must say.

Hi Fussy...... I mean Cedric :D,
yeah just a little but background now much better as you say, I have only just gotten Neat Image so still have to learn what setting is best for certain images.
Mind you I do minimal PP on these shots anyway and most pics PP'd in about 30 secs using Lightroom, ok maybe if I spent more time I could eke out a fraction more detail but with the amount that I shoot I would never be away from the PC, I'm sure you'll agree that if the image is good then only a little needs done, and I'm finding this to be more so now that I have decent glass ie: Sigma 500mm F4.5 and Canon 50mm F1.4 are two lenses that I now own and I find need very little work done to the images.
All I need now is a decent head for my tripod as it's been mothballed since selling the ballhead I had, the Manfrotto 393 is my next buy but funds tight just now so the monopod will have to do in the meantime ;)
Thanks for the input, it's always greatly appreciated.
Mike.
Well with the standard of work you're turning out now, it's worth spending a bit of time on the keepers to get the best out of them, they don't come along often enough. I know what you mean about sitting in front of the PC though. I'm just trialling Lightroom for the second time and finding myself liking it more and more, so I suppose I'm gonna have to fork out. (Anyone know the cheapest to place to get a pukka CD copy?)
The 393 will make a huge difference to your technique and to the amount of keepers you get. Pity you're not closer, I could lend you one for a bit.

Hi Cedric,
thanks for the offer of the 393 that would have been great if I'd been closer as you say, I will get one eventually but with my wife out of work just now I'm not wanting to spend any more cash on photo gear right now so it will have to wait.
As for cheapest place for lightroom, I'm not sure cheapest I've see is about £130 but was out of stock, it's a great programme, lacking in a few features but this is made up by the time taken to PP as I find it quick and easy.
See ya,
Mike.
