Not sure if this has been posted but...

really interesting article about high key studio work.

That was an entertaining watch.
Ive drooled over some of Paul Ward's images before, so it was interesting to see the man behind them.

Shame they dont elaborate a little more on what is perceived as high key though.
The way it comes over, high key is no more than a white background.

Thanks for sharing Allan, I really enjoyed watching.

Really good. But in the studio while metering for high key in front of the window... why did he meter from the window with reflective and meter from the model with incidental?

What a fantastic thing.... it makes things so much easier to understand than reading them... brilliant

Really good. But in the studio while metering for high key in front of the window... why did he meter from the window with reflective and meter from the model with incidental?

He doesn't. He measures light coming from the window (1st light source) and then measures light coming from the reflector (2nd light source).

Hi guys, Exec Producer here..... glad you like the show, more to come at the end of the month, any questions please feel free to get in touch.

Re high Key - it's become a miss used term I admit (and I didn't clarify it) to mean bright white background when really it shouldn't but I think that's a fact of the High Streets and people latching onto a term and not knowing it's true origin.

Welcome Peter, thanks for the excellent programme. It makes it so much easier to learn when you can see it, than read it.

Hi Guys, Show 3 now available.

Keltic Ice Man
14-06-2008, 09:00
I see part of it has turned into subscription only

digitalmaniac
14-06-2008, 09:09
High key means-very little or no shadow detail.:naughty:

Photo Tv
14-06-2008, 09:43
Hi, yup had to go part subscription as the shows are not cheap to produce, it's like many things quality comes at a price.

Re the High key thing I agree, but I think there has been a bluring of the meaning and so many refere to white background (High Street) look as such.

It's a shame that there is a sub fee now. That was one of the many things why I liked the show. Good info which was spot on but free to everyone.

:(

As I memtioned I can't bank roll the shows anymore as they cost 5K each to make so it's going to be a balance now between sponsors and subscribers. I want to keep making them and not loose the quality but good people come at a price, just like good photographers :-)

Rockshifter
14-06-2008, 16:46
Surely if you get enough views you will command a bigger sponsor fee.
With a subscription your numbers will surely fall.
Oh, I thought your presenter looked great ! (and was very pro too.)

Photo Tv
14-06-2008, 16:49
Viewing figures are still very good, so too is the feedback - viewers like the show, so it's a balance, and we've pitched it at less than the cost of a monthly magazine - so go on give it go :-)

Show 3 Covers Big Cats and Macro.

Coming up in Show 4 (July) and 5 (August) we interview two legends, Jon Gray - Fashion Photographer, also Keith Trainor - Event Photographer.

Plus we talk with Fuji, Sony and Express Digital all from Photomart's Summer Workshop.

Then we do a tutorial with social photographer Angelina Georgiou covering getting great images or people and kids outdoors.

cherryrig

How much of show 4 will be able to be seen by the people who have not paid??

Photo Tv
21-06-2008, 20:21
Hi

With each show we offer part one for free, that's normally a 10 minute section of the show, not a trailer.

Then you have the options to subscribe. If you register (which is free) you get shows 1 and 2 for Free too.

Any queries let me know.

Just got an email from PhotoTv, the shows are now all free again.

Good afternoon members.

Just a short notification email to let you know that Photographytv.tv has moved back to being totally FREE to watch.

We’ve quickly realised that subscription based systems are not what the viewers want so we’ve adapted the site and introduced an Archive.

In the Archive are ALL the shows we’ve made. All you need to do is login to access the Archive or to watch the latest show.

Also Show 5 is now available on the site.

Let your friends know or why not discuss the shows in your favourite forum.

Best regards

Peter

Excellent NEWS! - must admit I very nearly subscribed the other day but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It may have been the cost of a mag, but I can flick through a mag in a shop prior to buying.

Good Luck with it. I hope you get the sponsorship deals you need to survive.
